CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Donald Brooks, age 65, who departed this life on Tuesday , January 23,2025. He fought a courageous fight.

Interment will be in Ring Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Marvin Young, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, will officiate at the services.

Donald Brooks was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on August 23, 1960 to the late James Brooks, Jr. and Sylvia Jane Smith Brooks. Sylvester worked at the Louisiana Race Tracks as a hot walker for most of his adult life, a job that he loved doing. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include five brothers, Harold Brooks, Leo Brooks, and Edward J. Brooks all of Sunset, George Brooks and his wife, Crystal, of Bellevue and Mickey Brooks of Dallas, TX; six sisters, Hilda M. Brooks of Sunset, Joyce Sonnier and her husband, Michael, of Prairie Bosse, Willa M. Brooks of Dallas, TX, Paula White and her husband, Phil, of Lafayette, Vickie Brooks and her companion, Linton Gobert, of Sunset and Tammy Charlot and her husband, Haywood, of Sunset; a loving Godchild, Cami Moneť, who loved him dearly; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Brooks; his mother, Sylvia J. Brooks; one sister-in-law, Hazel Sam Brooks; and two nephews, Harold Matthew Brooks and Laderia Leo Lazard.
