she was stearn, resilient but giving,she was a business owner selling merchandise in the market place in her home town. When in cali, she picked the fields in Del Rey, California , eventually settling in San Diego working at a restaurant making handmade tortillas. She was little lady with a big bite, but was a giving person often helped the homeless The ice cream man once said she fed him, gave him clothes during hard times and take them to church. There was anothet time there was construction at the chirch, she fed workers on Saturdays. she was very private. . She loved clothes especially bright, happy colors. - she loved to be pampered, she was my little deva. She always had gloves that matched her shoes. She loved makimg a fashion statment. She make the best tamales especially the sweet pineapple tamales.

Dolores Velez Bonner, lovingly known as Lola, peacefully passed away on July 6, 2024, in San Diego, California. She was born on April 9, 1922, in Pueblo Nuevo Guanajuato, Mexico.

Lola had a remarkable life journey. In her hometown in Mexico, she owned a successful merchandise business in the marketplace. When she moved to California, she worked in Del Rey, picking fields before eventually settling in San Diego. There, she was known for making delicious handmade tortillas at a local restaurant. She also made pineapple tamales which were legendary, loved by all who tasted them.

Despite her petite stature, Lola had a big heart and was known for her generosity that touched the lives of many.As a devout Christian, Lola dedicated herself to helping the less fortunate. The ice cream man recalled how she not only fed him but also provided him with clothes during his difficult times, even inviting him to attend church with her. As a devout Christian , she spent her time helping at the church. For example, she would feed the workers at the church construction site on Saturdays, displaying her selflessness and caring nature.

Lola was a woman of many talents and passions. She cherished spending time with the women of her church, where she found joy in crocheting. She had the best roses in the block, and her neighbors often admired her gardening skills.

Despite her private nature, Lola loved bright, happy colors and enjoyed dressing stylishly.
