Dolan grew up on a dairy farm in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. His early life involved tending to and milking the cows they owned. He attended Bernardsville High School, where he met his future wife, Alice Dolan. In high school, he developed a love for cycling and spent his late teens and early twenties racing bicycles. He raced at the international level in many 6-day races. In 1953 Dolan and Alice married and settled down in Manville, New Jersey to raise their family. Dolan moved to Baxter, Tennessee in 1995. His love for the outdoors and country music drew him to Tennessee. On a beautiful piece of property, he made his home.

Dolan was an incredibly brilliant man with an exceptional memory. He lived a good Christian life. He was an avid bike rider; his love for cycling was a passion that he carried throughout his life. Until the age of 85, Bill rode 10-25 miles a day in the hills of Tennessee near his home.

Dolan Rums will be forever missed by his family and friends. We all will miss that infectious smile, those deep conversations, and his love of life and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral Service for Dolan Rums will be held Thursday, September 25, 2023, at 12:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Gillock officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, September 25, 2023, from 11:00 am until the time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
