Her love of her husband Charlie shined in everything she did. She was his biggest supporter, most devoted marketer for his small business, and they were holding hands throught it all...even at the end. She loved her three children beyond measure. Laurel, Leslie, and James all had a unique relationship with Diane and one that was united all the same. She had a gift our family will carry forward with honor and grace.
Diane was a passionate lover of food. She was an excellent chef herself, and appreciated all who shared in her hobby. She could quote every meal she ate at every place she had ever been. When in her 50's and people would ask how she stays looking so young without plactic surgery she would keenly smile and say "pie."
Music was the rythm of her life. From her early days at Hall Street Baptist, then to Douglas Blvd. Christian Church, and Walnut Street Baptist. She loved the Beatles, Van Morrison, Bonny Raitt, Allmon Brothers, Steely Dan, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Judds, and so many others. During the early 70's she volunteered with a record promoter and charmed the likes of Bob Segar, ZZ Top, Harvey Mandel, and Canned Heat. Interestingly enough, her favorite was Alice Cooper who she called one of the kindest people she had ever met. As the years passed so much musical talent in her life. Friends and family were always first and she so enjoyed listening to her daughter Leslie sing and play piano, her son James play guitar, her son-in-law Norm harmonize with her, her grandson Zack record her favorites she could watch over and over again. Her passion for music shined. Her voice was a true gift from God and was strong up until her last days even as her voice weakened. Her musical therapist at the Cancer Center brought her great joy.
First and foremost Diane was a family person. The loss of her father at a young age cemented her path in life to bring joy, perspective, and authenticity into any place she touched. She had an unwavering love and unimaginable devotion to those she was sent here to cherish. It was evident in each day and in each way. Her Chocolate Chip Cookies were a staple for all and noone can make them like she could.
