Diane Sankey-Johnson, born on September 12, 1957, in Montgomery, AL, passed away on January 2, 2024, in her beloved hometown. Diane was a woman of many passions and interests. She found joy in cooking for her family, creating delicious meals with the love and care only a mother can provide. Diane also had a wanderlust spirit and enjoyed traveling to new places. She had a knack for finding the best deals while indulging in her love for shopping.
When it came to music, Diane had a soft spot for Southern Soul singers. Their soulful melodies resonated with her, bringing comfort and joy to her heart. One of the defining aspects of Diane's life was her career at the United States Postal Service. Through her work, she had the privilege of meeting countless people and building lasting relationships.
Family meant the world to Diane, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She was a devoted wife to her husband Joe "Sunn" Johnson and a proud mother to her daughters Rashanda Sankey-Tatum and Keshia Sankey-Maddox. Her three grandsons and granddaughter were a source of immense joy in her life. Diane's sister Floretta Sankey and brother Quint Sankey survive her.
Diane's impact extended beyond her immediate family. She was an active member of her church community, where she gave her time and energy to help others. Diane's caring nature and straight-forward personality left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Diane Sankey-Johnson's proudest accomplishments were her children and her dedicated involvement in her church. Diane will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her genuine love for her family, and her commitment to serving others.
