Obituary

Obituary for Denise Marie Norton (Deni)

(August 17, 1961 – January 29, 2025)

It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Denise Marie Norton, affectionately known as Deni, on January 29, 2025. A vibrant soul, Deni’s infectious humor, strength, and love for life touched everyone she met. She was 63 years old.

Deni made her mark in the world as a fun-loving and dedicated tour bus driver, renowned for her ability to make every trip a memorable experience. Her passengers were treated not just to the majestic views of the Grand Canyon but to her endless jokes and infectious enthusiasm. As one of the most beloved drivers on the route to the West Rim, Deni had a unique gift for turning any frown upside down, leaving smiles in her wake wherever she went. It wasn’t just a job to her; it was a passion that she carried with joy, humor, and a deep appreciation for the people she met.

Her family was always her greatest pride, especially her grandbabies. Deni’s heart swelled with love as she watched each of them grow and thrive. She was thrilled to see her legacy continue with the laughter and light of the next generation. Her proudest accomplishments were not her career successes, but the love she gave to her children, grandchildren, and family.

Deni’s family includes her children:

Daryk, born on leap year in 1984, who lives in Minnesota with his two children, Jazzmin and DJ.

Nolan, who has two children, Aubrey and Brayden.

Natyia, who has three children, Tatum, Alex, and Deklan.

Nicole, who is expecting her first child in 2026.

Deni was also a sister, twin to Duane, and a sibling to Mark, Diane, and the late Jeff and Debbie. Family meant everything to Deni, and her love for those closest to her was limitless. In her later years, she was known to say that her beloved cat, Ollie, was "her husband," and they shared an inseparable bond.

Known for her playful personality, Deni was always the life of the party. Whether she was cracking jokes on the bus or encouraging her daughters to join her for 90s nights at the local bar, Deni was never without a laugh to share. And, in the days when her kids were teenagers, she was the mom who was always there—whether it was for a ride, a chat, or a little bit of help when her kids needed it most. No task was too big, and no challenge too great. "Cool beans!" was one of her favorite sayings, and "If it’s not hard, then it’s not worth it" was a motto she lived by.

Deni was a fighter. She faced life’s battles with courage, resilience, and an unyielding spirit, always ready to crack a joke even in the toughest times. Her love for her family, her friends, and her community will live on in the stories we tell and the laughter we share in her memory.

.

Deni, we love you. We miss you. Your laughter, love, and light will never fade from our hearts.

Fundraiser for Denise

My mom didn't want to be buried or cremated, so she donated her body to science. It's been almost a year and my siblings have done nothing, so I'd at least like to get her a marker in Minnesota, by her mother, Helen, her dad, Wendell and her first child, Charles. That way they can be all together again. Resting easy.
