Obituary

Debra Ann Franklin, affectionately known as Debbie, was born on February 17, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and passed away on December 27, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. A beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, Debra's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, particularly her grandchildren, Taylar Franklin, Miaya Franklin, and Eron Henry, whom she cherished with all her heart.

Debbie was a woman of many interests, finding joy in sewing and the strategic challenges of playing chess. She had a passion for good food, particularly steak and gumbo, and enjoyed listening to the soulful melodies of Charlie Wilson. Her personality shone brightly through her humor, curiosity, and compassionate nature, making her a beloved figure in the lives of those around her.

Throughout her life, Debra demonstrated her belief that "You can’t accomplish nothing in life without taking a risk." This motto guided her as she worked hard to provide for her family and accomplish her goal of finishing college, leaving a legacy of perseverance and determination.

Debra’s impact extended beyond her family; she was known in her community as the "candy lady," always ensuring that neighborhood children had an abundance of snacks. Her caring spirit and readiness to assist anyone in need left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Jennise Johnson, her daughter, Trennise Franklin, and her beloved grandchildren. Debra Ann Franklin will be remembered for her sweet nature, her unwavering support, and the joy she brought to the lives of those she touched. A devoted Christian, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and purpose. She will be deeply missed but cherished in the hearts of many.
