Deborah Ann Robbins, born on August 6, 1954, to the late Lawrence Edward Bassett and Betty Sarah Ann Potter Bassett, passed away on August 26, 2024. Deborah, fondly known as Debbie, was a graduate of Ludlow High School, Class of 1972.
Debbie is survived by her loving son Michael Barton and his wife Jillian, along with her three cherished grandchildren, all of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her brother, Charles "Chuck" Bassett and his wife Kaye of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her sister, Joanne Bassett of Indianapolis, Indiana and two nephews.
Debbie was an avid reader with a particular affinity for science fiction literature and films. Her dedication to lifelong learning was evident through her post-retirement engagement in the literary community, where she provided editorial services to new and self-published authors, helping them bring their stories to life. Debbie also enjoyed making scrapbooks and mixed media art, always finding ways to express her love for beauty and memories.
Additionally, Debbie held a strong preference for hot tea and maintained a vigilant interest in meteorological conditions. It was not uncommon for her to advise her son to remain at home in the event of inclement weather.
A celebration of her life will be held for friends and family on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the family residence, located at 1598 Boone Hall Drive in Charleston, South Carolina.
Debbie will be remembered for her intellectual curiosity, creative talents, and devotion to her loved ones. Her passing leaves a significant void in the lives of those who knew her.
