Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather
Deacon Johnny Oliver Gibson Sr. also known to many as “Dad” was born Monday, March 25, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Willie and Alberta Gibson.He grew up with three sisters and two brothers on the east side of Indianapolis.
Dad attended Indianapolis Public schools where he graduated from Arsenal technical high school. He received his license of ministry on October 20, 1998.
Dad gave his life over to God and was an active church member at Gatekeepers Church of God, where he attended and often preached on Sundays. that was an amazing person. He loved his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. He also loved going to sporting events such as football games and baseball games. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an active person in everyone’s life around him.
Dad was quiet, but his presence was felt in any room he was in. He was devoted to his family and making sure everyone was OK. Dad was everyone’s “Dad”hence the nickname, everyone felt comfortable and loved to be around him. he offered his wisdom support and advice to everyone as a friend to mini he was a cherish member of every community that he lived in, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. dad loved music and would often sit and listen to the smooth sounds of jazz. dad enjoyed cooking for his family and grilling at every cookout.
Dad departed this life on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of 78 Years old. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Alberta Gibson and father, Willie Gibson, Sister, Ann Blacc and brother,Melvin Gibson. He leaves to cherish wife Minister Shirley Gibson, sisters, Rachel, Marilyn, brother, William Gibson,9 kids, 14 grandkids, 14 great grandkids and one great- great grandchild and they all loved him dearly. dad also leaves to cherish a host of other family members, church members and friends.
