David Rondle Layne, also known as Big Dave, passed away In his home on May 29, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on January 22, 1942 in Middletown, OH, and had been residing in Trenton, OH.

David was a talented wood shop teacher who dedicated his life to teaching and inspiring others in the craft of woodworking. He found joy in creating beautiful pieces from wood and was known for his craftsmanship. When he wasn't in the wood shop, David could often be found casting his line into the water, enjoying his favorite hobby of fishing.

Among his favorite pastimes, David loved nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. He cherished his wife, Shirley Ann Layne, and they shared a bond that was built on love and respect for 62 years. Together they raised a daughter, Ruth Angeline Layne, who brought immense joy to their lives. David was also a proud grandfather to Brianna Gabrielle Burton and Madeline Ruth Burton, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

David was a man of strong faith, and his love for God guided him throughout his life. He was a generous soul, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and generosity impacted the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.

In his free time, David enjoyed indulging in his favorite foods, particularly chicken and dumplins. Whether he was sharing a meal with loved ones or working on his latest woodworking project, he approached life with passion and dedication.

David Rondle Layne leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley, his granddaughters, Brianna (Derrick) and Madeline, as well as his sister-in-law, Cora (Gary), along with extended family and friends. His daughter, Angie preceded in death. and mother Ruth Maxwell Layne and father Lacy Layne, brother Tom Layne, sister Eva Jan.
