Obituario

David James Arias Sr. passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 69. He was born on July 6, 1955, in Torrance, CA, and had most recently resided in Lawndale, CA.

David, also known as Dave, was a hardworking Aerospace Tool Builder throughout his career. He dedicated his time and effort to his profession and achieved notable accomplishments.

Dave was a proud American, with patriotism in his bones. He joined the Army out of high school, answering his sense of duty to the land he so deeply loved. He departed the Army with a rank of SP5 and served time in many places including Germany.

Outside of work, David was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed deer hunting, camping, and trying his luck with lottery scratchers. However, his true joy in life was his beloved wife, Shirley, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

David took great pride in his Mexican heritage and indulged in his favorite Mexican dishes. He loved the flavors and aromas that reminded him of his roots.

David leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their two adult children, David Jr. and Melinda Arias-Preciado. He was a proud grandfather to his grandsons Jordan, Jesse, Andrew, Alex, Lorenzo, and granddaughter Leilani. He also had the joy of anticipating the arrival of another granddaughter Lyrah.

In addition to his immediate family, David is remembered by his sisters Carol Jeter, Marilyn Finch, his twin sister Elaine Resendez, and his brother Jared Arias. He also had many neices and nephews. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

David was preceeded in death by his parents Bonnie & Jesse Arias, his brother Jesse (Steve) Arias, his brothers in law Mike Jeter and Victor Resendez and his nephew Nicholas Arias.


May David James Arias Sr. rest in peace, leaving behind cherished memories and an everlasting impact on those whose lives he touched. He was a kind, gentle man and the world was better with him in it.
