David I. Torgerson, known affectionately as Dave, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Milford, Connecticut. He was born on January 23, 1945, in New Haven, Connecticut. Dave dedicated his life to both his family and his career, serving as the Manager of Network Systems at Southern New England Telephone Company. He proudly earned three degrees from the University of New Haven, a testament to his commitment to education and personal growth.
Dave was a beloved husband to his wife, Janet, whom he married in 1966. Together, they raised three children: Kenneth, Stacy, and William. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Zyra, Mia, Garrett, Nerea, Isabel, David, Nina, Elina, and Daniel, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
An avid sports enthusiast, Dave was a loyal fan of the Red Sox and enjoyed watching the History Channel in his leisure time. He had a passion for coaching, dedicating many years to the Milford recreation league girls' softball teams, travel softball, and the Joseph A. Foran High School softball teams, as well as Milford Senior Baseball league teams. His contributions to the community left a lasting impact on many young athletes.
In his free time, Dave loved to spend hours in his backyard, gardening, playing cards, and solving crossword puzzles. He often found solace at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casino, where he enjoyed the thrill of the games. His friends and family will remember him for his favorite saying, “I don’t ask for much,” which reflected his humble and generous nature.
David is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Codeanne and Cathy Blair, along with his cherished family, who will carry on his legacy of love and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
