Darrell was a dedicated mechanic, known for his exceptional skills and sought-after expertise in the field. His passion for building hot rods earned him multiple trophies at car shows, a testament to his craftsmanship and love for automobiles. He had a special fondness for coconut shrimp and enjoyed listening to the music of Tracy Chapman, as well as classic shows like Gunsmoke.
Married to Lora for 54 wonderful years, Darrell valued the time spent with his wife above all else. He was a proud father to Shellea and husband Rick and Becky and husband Wade, and a loving grandfather to Brett Mussyal, Alexis Vadnais, Josh Gershon, Ryan Hall, and Dylan Hall. His great-granddaughter, Korra Gershon, brought him immense joy. Darrell is also survived by extended family members including Danny Sampson, John Kyser, Danny Waldrip, Derrick Butler, Kim Danker, Randal & Neta Danker, Michali & Journi, Bethany, Ryan Thompson, Tenley, and Dawn Aldridge. His life was enriched by his faith, having accepted Jesus as his savior on October 23, 2024, with the guidance of Pastor Randy and Debbie Hawkins.
Darrell leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. His family fondly remembers his playful humor, including a lighthearted moment when his doctor asked if he sees a podiatrist due to his diabetes and he answered “yes, my son takes me to my foot doctor every other month”.. he was referring to getting pedicures! He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
We'll plant real trees for you in Darrell's memory and display your contribution forever.
