Darrell Wayne Claytor Sr., affectionately known as Papa Darrell, passed away on August 21, 2024, at the age of 71. Born to Ada and Bernard Claytor May 30, 1953, in Akron, Ohio, he spent his life in the city he loved.

Darrell dedicated many years to the Metro Regional Transit Authority, where he earned respect and admiration for his hard work and commitment to the community. Darrell was known for his jolly laugh and his knack for entertaining. He was the life at most gatherings, being the first to arrive and the last to leave. He enjoyed a good glass of spirits with an accompanying smoke. He shared a love of firearms, smell goods, cowboy boots and hats.

A man of simple joys, Darrell lived by the motto, "Laugh, pray, and eat," reminding all around him of the importance of happiness, faith, and togetherness. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, cherished for his kindness and wisdom.

He is survived by his mother, Ada P. Claytor of Cleveland; sister, Gayle Bostick of Brunswick; sons, Darrell W. Claytor Jr., Anthony M. Claytor, Joshua I. Turner-Claytor of Akron; daughters, Amita L. Claytor of Virginia, Taylor H. Claytor of Akron; grandchildren, Faith Z. Vaughn, Geovonni A. Ricks of Akron; special friends and sister-wives, Peggy Claytor of Norton and Antoinette Bell-Claytor of Barberton, Frank Skelly and Russ Diehl; nephew, Brian Bostick; cousin, LaDawn Govan and many other relatives and friends.
