She used to own a store in Grand Turk. She was an avid reader so she used to sell books and used to do a lot of research on vitamins and supplements, even though Google didn’t exist. She sold supplements in her store and people used to seek her advice on which supplements would be best to help them. She also sold, gifts, clothes, souvenirs and a variety of items. She used to work at the Turks and Caicos High School as a Librarian. She worked at T&C Travel as a Travel Agent until her retirement.

Daphne loved nothing more than

To help people. Before moving from Grand Turk, she used to go to the “Old People’s Ward” at the hospital, and look for some of the elderly and took whatever they needed. She used to like taking and reading newspapers, to them to keep everyone updated on the news.

Daphne Doreen James, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on August 17, 1943, in Saint Ann, Jamaica, and most recently resided in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Daphne had a rich and fulfilling life, touching the lives of many through her various roles and passions. She had a lifelong love for literature and worked as a librarian at the Kingston Public Library in Jamaica and later at The Turks and Caicos High School. Daphne's avid reading also led her to become knowledgeable in vitamins and supplements, even in a time before Google. She owned a store in Grand Turk where she sold books, supplements, clothing, souvenirs, and other items. Many sought her advice on which supplements would best benefit them.

Daphne was a compassionate soul who found joy in helping others. Before leaving Grand Turk, she regularly visited the "Old People's Ward" at the hospital, providing the elderly with their needs and reading newspapers to keep them updated on current events.

In her free time, Daphne enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved strolling along the beach, collecting shells, and transforming them into beautiful earrings, necklaces, and other souvenirs.

Daphne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert James. She is survived by her three children, Colette, Giselle, and Jimmy, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Christian, Josiah, Jaden, and Celina. She will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Marjorie Bayley and Barbara Weir, and her extended family and friends.

Daphne Doreen James leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and generosity. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to helping others and her passion for learning. Her memory will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
