Dan could fix almost anything mechanically wrong with a car. A skill he passed on to his eldest son Michael.
Danny had a wide range of movies he enjoyed but he was particularly partial to slasher films and comedies. Some of his favorites include "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Critters" "Gremlins" "Serial Mom", "Big Man On Campus", all of the Friday the 13th films and all of the Nightmare on Elm Street films and many others.
Dan held many jobs over the years. Some of which are Kirk Eastern, Simplex, and of course Wal-Mart.
Danny loved his pets. He had numerous cats and dogs. Cats included Midnight, Speckles, Oreo and a few more. Dogs included Star the Beagle, and Kisses the black lab/great dane mix.
Dan loved strawberry ice cream.
Dan loved Walker Texas Ranger, The Statler Brothers Show, and Hee-Haw.
Danny really loved the sound of bagpipes.
Prior to his retirement to Visalia California, Dan lived in Westminster Massachusetts.
As a sailor in the US Navy, Dan traversed the Northern and Southern American Hemispheres, crossing the equator more than once. He also drove to various states up and down the eastern seaboard before eventually driving from Massachusetts to California to retire.
Daniel Patrick Martioski, lovingly known as Danny, was born on November 1, 1953, and raised in Gardner, MA. He recently retired to Visalia, CA, where he enjoyed spending time with family, most notably his great-grandchildren Riley and Ezekiel. Daniel had an insatiable appetite for his preferred breakfast foods of two eggs over easy with sausage and toast, and was known on occasion to spend an entire Saturday afternoon in the kitchen making his secret pasta sauce which was always "missing something" and homemade meatballs.
His taste in music reflected his love for classic country, with Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, The Judds, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gale, Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash being among his favorite bands and artists. Nothing brought him more joy than driving his truck, making trips to Wal-Mart, and cherishing moments spent at Craigville Beach in Barnstable, Massachusetts. His favorite place in the world due to the memories created there with his late wife Karen.
Daniel's passion for sports, especially football and baseball, was evident throughout his life. After he had children, his love of watching became a love of participating. If he wasn't in the stands at his kids' baseball games, he could be found lending a hand with snacks and drinks or umpiring. If not cheering from the bleacher seats during football games, Danny was usually running chains. He dedicated many years of his career to Wal-Mart, where he was a valued and extremely well-liked employee.
He will be deeply missed by his children Michael John Martioski Sr of New Hampshire, David Anthony Martioski and Melissa Jean (Martioski) Gibson of Massachusetts, Shannon Ennis and her husband James of Visalia California, Wayne Findley and his wife Leticia of Visalia California, Christy Findley, and Kandi Ferguson and her husband Cd both of Hinton Oklahoma.
Danny will also be remembered by his surviving siblings, Robert Martioski, Deborah (Martioski) Hart, Kathleen (Martioski) Cormier, Kenneth Martioski, Pamela Martioski, Lilian (Martioski) Newton, and Theresa (Martioski) Shappell as well as many grand children, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Daniel's defining personality traits included his stubbornness and his love for good pranks, often at the expense of others.
Dan impacted the lives of those around him with his kind-hearted nature and willingness to go out of his way for others, even when it came at a personal cost. Baptized as a Catholic, Danny's faith waivered early in life. He often tried to return to his God and just as often lost the path. Danny was not spiritual, but he did believe in a higher power which, in later life provided him with a source of comfort and guidance, especially leading up to and after the loss of his wife Karen.
Danny passed peacefully in his sleep. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers and continue to keep his memory alive by sharing stories.
We'll plant real trees for you in Daniel's memory and display your contribution forever.
