Dale had two children Paris Coleman and Lisa Reece along with his daughter-in-love Latonya Coleman and sons-in-love Kenneth Reece.
Dale retired from the State of California, Department of Corrections, as a Parole Administrator in 1992. He started as a Parole Agent with the agency in 1970. Dale also served as a lecturer for California State University in their Criminal Justice Department for several years after his retirement from the Department of Corrections.

Dale was drafted into the United States Army on June 10, 1960 and was honorably discharged from active duty two years later on May 11, 1962.
Dale and his sweetheart, Luella Moland, were married on June 24, 1962. They were married for 62 years at the time of his passing.
Dale served as a Deacon in several in several churches. The Emanuel Baptist church in Stockton, CA. The Friendship Baptist Church in Fresno, CA. where he also served as the assistant Sunday School Superintendent. The St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (now Saint Paul Church of Sacramento), where he also served as Superintendent of the Sunday School for 30 years.
