Cynthia Johnson, affectionately known as Jean, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on November 14, 1939, in Newark, NJ. She went to Central High School and graduated in 1957. She spent her later years in Wilson, NC, where she embraced life with an infectious spirit.
Cynthia was a vibrant individual who loved to dance, dress stylishly, and practiced tae kwon do with enthusiasm. Her passion for traveling and her unique collection of hats and wigs were a testament to her lively personality. Cynthia’s humor and uplifting presence made her the life of any gathering, and she cherished the moments spent with her family and friends.
She enjoyed a successful career, working as a Packer for Sharp-Ivers Lee Pharmaceutical for many years before retiring in 1999. Shortly thereafter, she began a new chapter at Walgreens, where she continued to make lasting connections. Cynthia was deeply proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing a special bond with her great-granddaughter, Jurnee.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Johnson, her mother Francis McIntyre, her father James Author McIntyre, her brother James McIntyre III, and her daughter Lisa Lockery-Majette. She is survived by her son, Daryl Lockery, her brother Thomas McIntyre, grandsons Haneef Graham (Shakera) and Shawn Graham, granddaughter Daicia Jones (Terrance), great-granddaughters Jurnee, Christina, and Keziyah, and her great-grandsons Tione, Zion, and Uriah, her nieces Thereasa Johnson, Nina Anderson, Kelli McIntyre, and nephew Nigel McIntyre. Cynthia also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends whom loved her dearly.
Cynthia Johnson will be deeply missed for her loving, compassionate nature and her ability to bring sunshine into the lives of those around her. Her legacy of joy and laughter will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
