Curtis Michael YorkJr-Sims, born on September 22, 1997, at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, passed away on September 25, 2024, in Oceanside, California. He is survived by his devoted husband, Sgt. Jeremie A. Sims(USMC), and his loving parents, Curtis Michael York Sr. and Patsy Adriana Hernandez Rodriguez. Curtis was also cherished by his siblings, Michael Brinkley, Keith Rodriguez, Asia York, and Makai York, as well as a large number of loving extended family, in-laws and friends.
A graduate of Hazelwood West High School and student of Southern Illinois University, Curtis dedicated his life to helping others not only as loyal Military Spouse and Homemaker, but also as a mental health worker at Crownview Psychiatric Institute. He also shared his passion for swimming as an instructor, diving coach, and lifeguard to those in his community as well. His commitment to service was a cornerstone of his character, and he was known for being smart, humble, selfless, and full of love.
Curtis had a deep appreciation for nature and spent countless hours outdoors, swimming, camping, and enjoying the company of his dogs, Kira and Remy. He was an avid fan of music, finding joy in the sounds of Kali Uchis, Megan Thee Stallion, Lana Del Rey, and Tame Impala. His favorite saying, "Im A Bitch that handles Big Business," encapsulated the drive and determination he had in life to just "Mind his Grown ass Business with his Marine and his dogs."
Curtis's legacy is one of compassion and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. He will be remembered not only for his professional contributions but also for the love and joy he spread through his relationships with family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him.
We'll plant real trees for you in Curtis's memory and display your contribution forever.
