Born on April 26, 1959, to the late Martha and Mark Harvactice, Cornelius was a man of unwavering strength, steady faith, and immense heart. A proud native son of his community, he carried his family name with honor and lived a life marked by service, sacrifice, and steadfast love.

Cornelius answered the call of duty early in life, enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 19. He served with distinction for over two decades, rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class. A decorated veteran, he was stationed overseas in Germany and the Middle East, where his leadership and loyalty earned the respect of his fellow soldiers. His bravery was matched by his humility, and he often credited his success to his belief in God and the strength of his family back home.

After retiring from military service, Cornelius found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. A devoted fisherman, he could often be found at the lake before sunrise, casting his line and basking in the quiet of nature. Whether reeling in a big catch or telling tall tales of the one that got away, fishing wasn’t just a hobby — it was his sanctuary.

But above all else, Cornelius loved his family. He was a pillar of support, a source of wisdom, and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him best. He leaves behind his beloved twin sister, Cornelia, with whom he shared a bond that time could never break. He is also survived by his two sons, whose lives were shaped by his guidance and example; eight grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; five nieces and seven nephews, all of whom knew him as “Uncle Neil” — the uncle who never forgot a birthday and always showed up when it mattered.

Cornelius is reunited in Heaven with his cherished parents, Martha and Mark Harvactice, as well as his beloved nephews, Joseph and Allen, whom he never stopped mourning. We take comfort in knowing they are together again, embraced in eternal peace.

Cornelius will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his firm handshake, his deep faith, and the way he made every person feel like family. His life was a testament to service — to his country, to his loved ones, and to his community. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, love, and enduring strength.
