Colleen Lynne McThompson, born on November 26, 1944, in Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, in Joplin MO. She resided in Granby Missouri. A proud graduate of North Kansas City High School, Class of 1963, Colleen dedicated her career to working at Leggett And Platt in Carthage, Missouri, and later at Wetmore Printing Company in Houston, Texas, until her retirement in 2011.
Colleen was known for her infectious love of sports, particularly baseball and football. She enjoyed sharing her passion for these games with family and friends while savoring her favorite cuisines, especially Mexican and Italian food. A devoted family member, Colleen’s life revolved around her two beloved sons, David Sollenberger and William Sollenberger, both residing in Granby, MO. She is also survived by her three brothers, Dennis (Diane) McThompson, Terry (Peggy) McThompson, and Larry (Monique) McThompson, as well as her two sisters, Cora McThompson and Patricia McThompson Hayes. Colleen cherished her many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces and many cousins.. She was preceeded in death by her Father William Franklin McThompson Mother Winnifred Frances Buresh Brother Bruce William McThompson Sister Kathryn McThompson Maule and her McThompson and Buresh Grandparents.
Colleen’s warm and loving nature made her a friend to all. She was a gifted storyteller who loved to laugh and spread joy wherever she went. Her motto in life, “Show Love, Compassion, and Kindness to others,” truly reflected her essence and was a guiding principle in her interactions with those around her.
A lifelong Methodist, Colleen found great joy in her favorite television shows like Seinfeld and her favorite movies, including The Hangover and The Burbs. Houston, Texas, Kansas City Missouri and San Diego Missouri held a special place in her heart, marking it as her favorite places in the world.
Colleen's legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered and loved by her family and friends.
