Cleveland Burden was born on October 4, 1941, to the late Joseph Burden and Roxie Uzzle in Virginia Beach, VA. He exemplified a life of service, dedication, and commitment to both his family and community.

Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction, discipline, and purpose. His military achievements mirrored the integrity and excellence that defined his life. He established his home in Dallas Fort Worth, Texas.

Cleveland derived great satisfaction from caring for his loved ones, frequently bringing together family and friends through his culinary expertise. He maintained his yard with exceptional pride, cultivating strawberries, green beans, watermelons, and an array of fruits such as pears, peaches, plums, cherries, among others. His grapevines enabled him to share homemade wine with neighbors, reflecting his generosity and desire to give back.

He valued outdoor activities, welcomed guests warmly, and showcased his harvest-including peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. During gatherings, he was always prepared at the grill, creating memorable meals.

As a passionate photographer, Cleveland was known for capturing special moments and sharing his talent with others. He conducted himself with quiet confidence, prioritized fitness, dressed smartly, and carried himself with dignity. At one point, he owned and operated a local nightclub, contributing vibrancy to his community.

Above all, he was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Belinda; five wonderful children: Bridgitte Dennis, Rachel Watkins (Keith), Cleveland Burden II, Renaye Jenkins, and Larry Burden; granddaughter Alexis Harris; and two great-granddaughters, Rayli and Raegan Howard. He was preceded in death by his great father Joseph Burden, his cherished mother, Roxie Uzzle, beloved son, Cleveland Burden, Jr. and younger brother Willie Lee Uzzle.

He will continue to live in the hearts of his two loving sisters, Viola Evans, and Charlene Mims (Perten) and his four caring brothers, Roy Uzzle (Mildred), Arthur Uzzle, Larry Uzzle (Marion) and Barry Uzzle as well as a host of relatives and friends. His life stands as a testament to love and service, as he will be greatly missed!
