Cheryl was raised in Fort Worth by her Great Grandmother Eula Fortune .In 1969 her Great Grandmother purchased a home in the Arington Heights Neighborhood in Westside of Fort Worth so she could raise her daughter . She worked for Tandy Co.,for 5 yrs and she had to retire due to her health and she and Eula raised Bettye. Before her stroke in 1998 Cheryl was earning her certificates going to college to become a minister to the Deaf Community but her health kept her from completing her dream. She was on hospice for 3 yrs .She fought so hard and always had a smile and was always happy to see people when they came to the house .She never turned anyone away needing a place to lay their head or a meal.She was known as "Momma Cheryl "..
