Chell Porter, 72, passed away on April 9, 2023, in her home in Springfield. Although Chell had no surviving family, she had a best friend who loved her deeply, Gloria Lancha.

Chell was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 3, 1950, to parents who sadly passed away when she was very young. She never married or had any children, but she had a fulfilling career as a librarian, where she was known for her helpfulness and dedication to her patrons.

Chell had many hobbies and interests, including reading, knitting, and gardening. She was a kind and compassionate person who always went out of her way to help those in need, and she will be missed by many in the community.

Gloria Lancha, Chell's best friend, remembers Chell as a beautiful soul who was always there for her. They met in college and remained close throughout their lives, often spending holidays and vacations together.

Gloria said, "Chell was my rock, my confidante, and my sister. She was always there for me, no matter what. I will miss her terribly, but I am grateful for the time we had together."

A private service will be held in Chell's honor, with Gloria and a few close friends in attendance. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local library where Chell worked for many years, as she was passionate about promoting literacy and learning.

Chell will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and giving person, who touched the lives of many. She may not have had any surviving family, but she had a best friend who loved her like family, and that is a testament to the impact she had on those around her. Rest in peace, Chell.
