Charlie Darrell Gatlin, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on June 12 2024, at the age of 71. He was born on April 26, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, and most recently resided in Clearwater Beach, Clearwater, FL.
Charlie had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He found joy in cooking, spending time with friends, and working on cars, often participating in derbies. His favorite foods included seafood, hamburgers, and spaghetti. Charlie had a diverse taste in music, appreciating Christian music, country tunes, and the band White Snake.
Known for his neatness and mechanical skills, Charlie took great pride in maintaining a clean home and being an excellent mechanic. He was fondly called Darrell by those closest to him. Charlie's favorite place in the world was the beach, and he enjoyed watching scary movies and engaging in sports like golfing and fishing.
Throughout his life, Charlie found fulfillment in his profession as a telephone man and mechanic. He treasured his graduation from Hillsborough Community College, his well-kept house, and most importantly, the well-being of his daughters, Sarah Weber and Julie Gatlin.
Charlie is survived by his loving sisters, Debbie Priola and Earline Coker. He will be remembered for his stubbornness, sense of humor, outgoing nature, and his preference for breakfast with black coffee and a daytime beer. Despite the challenges they faced, Charlie's love for his family remained unwavering.
In addition to his family, Charlie touched the lives of many others through his generous spirit and community involvement. He was a member of the local VFW and made contributions to various causes. Charlie held firm Christian beliefs and found solace in his faith.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at a later date. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
I would like to buy a plot in cemetery across the street from my dad's house because he enjoyed the spot where he lived and retired and I think he would be most happy there please help me he is cremated and now I want to give him a resting place where others can visit and know my dad Charlie gatlin ..thank you if your able to donate ..it means alot ..I am of little funds and finding it hard to manage everything ..thank you again .
