Obituary

Charles Robert Kurrle

February 19, 1941 – May 8, 2026

Charles Robert Kurrle, 85, fondly known to all as Charlie, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.

Early Life and Family
Born on February 19, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, Charlie was the beloved son of the late Charles Christian Kurrle and Maria Gertrude (Sheehan) Kurrle. He was a proud graduate of Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore.

Charlie was the devoted husband of Anita Louise (Dumps) Kurrle, with whom he shared 64 beautiful years of marriage.

Career and Retirement
Following high school, Charlie began working for his family's business, the Kurrle Meat Packing Company in Baltimore. In 1963, he launched a dedicated 30-year career with the CONOCO Oil Company at Curtis Bay in Baltimore, serving as a Welding Supervisor until his retirement in 1991.

Following his retirement, Charlie and Anita relocated to Ocean Pines, Maryland, where they spent over 30 wonderful years. Charlie deeply enjoyed life on the water—boating, fishing, and creating lasting memories with his family. He was also a deeply dedicated and active member of the local Optimist Club.

Legacy and Survivors
Charlie was a warm, kind, and welcoming man whose true nature was defined by his love for his family. A natural storyteller, he brought laughter and joy to everyone around him, making the world a brighter place. He will be deeply missed as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by:

  • His Wife: Anita Louise Kurrle

  • His Children: Douglas Charles Kurrle (Renee) of Abingdon, MD; Elizabeth Louise Kurrle of Ellenton, FL; and Jennifer Kurrle Walsh (Scott) of Palmetto, FL.

  • His Siblings: Steven Donald Kurrle and Patricia Carney.

  • His Grandchildren: Joshua Kurrle; Ryan Kurrle (Jordan); and Amber Kurrle (fiancé Mike Asero).

  • His Great-Grandchildren: Avery Kurrle, JJ Kurrle, and Fletcher Kurrle.

Memorial Donations
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Charlie’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
