Obituary

Charles Robert DeSimone, lovingly known as Yob or Bop, passed away on June 4, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on August 4, 1939, in Moorestown, NJ, and most recently resided in Panama City, FL.

Charles was a man of many passions and hobbies. He had a knack for fixing things and could often be found tinkering away. He also loved painting, riding his lawn mower, and working with his beloved duck tape. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to doo woo, country, and Christian music, and he cherished moments spent with his family, who meant the world to him.

When it came to food, Charles had a special place in his heart for spaghetti and meatballs. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers, and he loved watching sports on TV, especially shows like Blue Bloods, NCIS, and All in the Family. His favorite movie was The Godfather.

Professionally, Charles held various roles throughout his life, including manager, lawn service owner, and jack of all trades. He was proud of his time playing football for Temple University and his career as the ultimate story teller. His creative spirit and mastery of duck tape earned him the nickname "Master of Duck Tape."

Charles had a deep love for his family, which included his wife Janet, their children, Louis (Deborah), Ronald (Michelle), Dennis (Michelle), and Laurie (Stephen), as well as his grandchildren Taylor, Jessica, Michaela, and Gabriel. He also had surrogate grandchildren Victoria (Travis), Shannon (Brent), Anna (Daniel), Ciarra, and Kaleigh. He cherished spending time with them and considered being with his family his favorite place in the world.

Charles will be remembered for his vivacious personality and his ability to live life to the fullest. He impacted the lives of those around him by sharing the gift of salvation and by volunteering as the Candyman at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for 11 years. His memorable catchphrase, "Yes, yes, yes!" and his infectious enthusiasm will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Charles Robert DeSimone is survived by his loving family, who will carry his memory with them always. His parents, siblings, and countless friends also mourn the loss of this remarkable man. In his absence, his spirit will continue to inspire and his legacy will live on.
