Charles "Chuck" Mrowca, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2025, near his home in Florida after a battle with gallbladder and liver cancer. Born on June 6th, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Chuck lived a life marked by devotion—to his faith, his family, and his community.

The eldest of eleven children born to Charles and Bernice Mrowca, Chuck grew up in a poor area in the suburbs of Detroit where he experienced a hard life at an early age. At just twelve years old, he began working at a local grocery store to help support his family.

In September 1966, while stationed at an Air Force base in Maine, Chuck met Elise during a double blind date. Though they were initially paired with others that evening, their meeting was guided by divine providence. Within months they were engaged and married by February—a union that would span more than fifty-eight years and be rooted in unwavering devotion and shared faith.

Following their wedding, Chuck and Elise moved to Michigan where he was stationed at another Air Force base. After the birth of their second daughter, they returned to Maine, it was there that Chuck started his career with Sappi as a printing system specialist. His work took him on many travels and earned him recognition as a million-mile traveler.

In 2007, Chuck and Elise embraced the snowbird lifestyle, dividing their time between Maine and their home in Hawthorne at Leesburg, Florida. In Florida Chuck was a very active part of the community, he participated in Bible studies, acted in plays, delivered meals through Meals on Wheels, volunteered preparing taxes for others, served at the church thrift store, attended dances, and immersed himself in activities that reflected his generous heart. He attended First Baptist of Leesburg and worshipped at Christ Fellowship Church upon returning to Maine.

Above all else, Chuck’s life was anchored by steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. Despite enduring chronic pain for much of his life, he remained faithful until the end. His family finds peace knowing he is now free from suffering and rejoicing eternally in heaven with his Savior.

Chuck leaves behind a loving family: daughter Susan Brahms and her husband David; granddaughter Julia; grandson Harrison; daughter Kate Chick and her husband Tim; granddaughter Lydia Lane and her husband Parker Lane; great-granddaughter Laurel; another great-granddaughter soon on the way; grandson Ethan Chick and his wife Kate Chick.

Chuck's life was one of quiet strength, deep conviction, and enduring love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
