Charles Joseph Cumbo, affectionately known as Chas, Charlie, Papa P, Grandpa, Hubs, and Chuckiebabe, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on November 12, 1964, in South Bend, Indiana, he was a long-time resident of Claymont, Delaware, before settling in Orlando, Florida.
Chas dedicated many years to the banking industry, where he was a stellar employee, navigating through numerous mergers with grace and professionalism. His career spanned several esteemed companies, including JP Morgan Chase (formerly Beneficial, First Card and First USA); Truist (formerly Symcor, ACS, Conduent, Suntrust and BB&T).
He is survived by his loving wife, Anita; his daughter, Michelle DelGuercio; his son, Anthony Cumbo; and his daughter, Nicole Cumbo. Chas was also cherished by his sister, Teresa Myers (Tom Myers); his granddaughters, Sienna and Sophia DelGuercio; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Carol Cumbo, and his brother, Dave Cumbo.
A simple and quiet man, Chas found joy in the comfort of his family and home. He was a passionate lover of animals, especially cats and squirrels, often drawing them to him wherever he went. Being 100% Italian, he took pride in his culinary heritage, relishing pasta and pizza, particularly from Sam’s pizza on the Wildwood Boardwalk in New Jersey. A music lover at heart, he was known for his air guitar skills and had a knack for making people laugh with his witty and sarcastic sense of humor.
Chas took great pride in his lawn and pool, reveling in compliments on their appearance. He looked forward to annual trips to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights with his son and was a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also enjoyed watching Monday Night Raw and Smackdown wrestling. Above all, his happiest moments were spent playing with his granddaughters, Sienna and Sophia, creating cherished memories in the pool and engaging in dollhouse, play dough and adventures to the park.
Chas will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
We'll plant real trees for you in Charles's memory and display your contribution forever.
