Charles Eric Knotts, known affectionately as Chuck, passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on February 16, 1951, in Philippi, West Virginia, and often moving around the state of Virginia, Chuck later moved to Southern California spent the latter part of his life in Azusa, California.
A devoted father, Chuck took immense pride in his role as a parent to his son Eric Knotts and his daughter Brittany Knotts. He recently got to enjoy making memories with his daughter-in-law, Thea Howkins-Knotts, and son-in-law, Myles Stavis. His heart swelled with joy when spending time with his favorite niece, Nikki, and her children, Charlotte and Chelsea Miller, whom he adored and often thought of as grandchildren.
Professionally, Chuck made his mark as an elevator mechanic and inspector, demonstrating the same dedication and skill in his career as he did in his personal life. He was known for his generosity, often treating friends as family and extending kindness to those in need, frequently buying food for the homeless during his workdays in Los Angeles.
Chuck had a passion for collecting guns, watching movies, listening to music, and honing his skills as a handyman, often taking on new house projects. His love for good food was evident in his favorites, which included Seared Ahi, Mexican cuisine, and Italian, usually accompanied by a glass of Beer. Some of his favorite musicians include Jethro Tull, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, The Moody Blues, and The Rolling Stones.
An interesting anecdote from his childhood reflects his resourcefulness; at just nine years old, he ingeniously wired the house phone to his room to cover for a school day spent at home. Chuck's warm spirit and sense of humor brought laughter to those around him, making others feel at home in his presence.
He is survived by his older sister, Betty Villani, brother-in-law Frank Villani, and younger sister, Lisa Sleeper. Chuck's generous heart will forever be missed by his family and friends, who remember him for the joy he brought into their lives.
