Obituary

Charles Rich went home to Jesus on Father's Day, June 16, 2024 at age 72.

Charles Arthur Rich Jr was born October 30, 1951 to Beverly Jean Redd and Charles Arthur Rich Sr. He was the eldest of three children to Beverly. His early years were spent living in the San Fernando Valley where he attended Vaughn St Elementary School, followed by San Fernando Jr and Sr High Schools. During his attendance at San Fernando Sr High, he played Varsity Football and ran Track. Charles, affectionately known as "Mickey" to family and close friends, was well recognized for his outstanding athletic abilities. Mickey advanced his athletic career when the family later moved to Los Angeles where he attended George Washington High School and honed his natural athletic skill as a Track and Field superstar. He shined brightest in the High and Low Hurdles event where he dominated most of his field opposition. After graduating high school he went on to attend East Los Angeles and Southwest Jr Colleges, before attending the esteemed UCLA. At UCLA he would continue his outstanding Track and Field career by competing in the Olympic trials, being known as a top 110 meter High Hurdle athlete, earning the titles of both City and Statewide Champion, as well as being ranked no.7 in the world.

Charles had a wide variety of interests, including hobbies such as low rider cars, chess, reading, writing, fashion and travel. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America and the United States. He leaves to cherish his memories; his mother Beverly Jean Williams, step father Eustace Eugene Williams Sr, one daughter; Meca M Rich, a brother; Antoine Williams (Evelyn), his sister (who preceded him in death) Deborah Harrison, his niece Felicia Wilson (who preceded him in death), three nephews; Troy Harrison (Stacie), Antoine Williams Jr, Reynaldo Williams (Korteney), four grandchildren, as well as an abundance of family and friends.
