Catherine Helen Blacklock (Philips), known to many as Cathy or Cat, passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 55. She was born on January 30, 1969, in East York, ON, Canada, and had been living in Barrie, ON, Canada, at the time of her sudden passing.
Catherine was a talented travel agent who loved nothing more than traveling the world by cruise ship, laughing the night away around a bonfire and spending time with her three fiercely independent daughters, Eli Blacklock, Lindsay Blacklock, and Rachel Blacklock. She enjoyed braiding each other's hair and trips to Canada's Wonderland; she cherished these special moments with her girls.
She had a passion for traveling, camping, quilting, crochet, fishing, and gardening. Catherine's favorite place in the world was the Caribbean Islands. She one day hoped to step foot on all seven continents. She also had a love for Tim Horton's coffee, Terry's Chocolate Oranges at Christmas, Diet Pepsi, and Oatmeal Creme Pies.
In her free time, Catherine enjoyed listening to bands and musical artists like KISS, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, P!nk, Adam Lambert, and Mookie Morris. She of course had a love for TV shows such as the Canadian and American Idol, the soap opera Young and The Restless with her mom, Sons of Anarchy, and Breaking Bad. Catherine was a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed watching ice hockey or playing office co-ed softball.
Catherine attended North Park Secondary School, Cawthra Park Secondary School, and Orangeville District Secondary School, graduating in the Class of 1987. She furthered her education at Sheridan College and Toronto School of Business, graduating in the Class of 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ernest Philips (2022) and Wendy Eleanor Brown (1987), as well as her beloved husband, Paul Ross Blacklock, whom she married in September 1995 and was widowed by in 2012. Catherine's husband and parents will reunite with her in spirit to watch over their children.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Matthew Philips (Tara), brother-in-law, Jamie Blacklock (Julie), and loving aunts and uncles, Lynda Davenport (Gary), Mabel-Anne Waters (Allan), Sandy Brown (Lara), and Mary Anne. She also leaves behind cherished cousins, Megan, Andrew, Alexander, Kyla, Chris, Jeff, and Damien, as well as nephews Aidan, Conor, and Cole, and nieces Mattie and Lauren.
Throughout her life, Catherine's infectious laugh and magnanimous nature impacted the lives of many. She was baptized into the Anglican faith and later became a member of The Salvation Army Church. She often questioned her faith in God and which bible to follow but later found solace in nature after her children grew up.
Catherine will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her family, friends, and her therapy dog, Gypsy. May she be reunited with her beloved pets, such as dogs Ace, Charlie, and Chloe, cats MeowMeow, Squeak, Boots, Socks, and Casey, rat Gracie, rabbits Ripple and Storm, ferret Whinnie, and hamster Fluffy, at the rainbow bridge.
A meditative walk and memorial service will be held to celebrate Catherine's life and the impact she had on those around her at Toronto's High Park Labyrith on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at 1:30 P.M. EST
