With heartfelt sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Catherine Carmel on June 7, 2024 in Coos Bay, Oregon.

Born on June 6, 1939, in Oakland, California, Catherine dedicated decades of her life to property management and passionately pursued the healing power of herbal remedies. She was also a proficient chef, cooking professionally in both San Francisco and Coos Bay.

Catherine lived an independent life, embracing every moment on her own terms. Known for her occasional bursts of Sicilian temper, she was beloved for her wisdom and life protips long before it was a trend.

As a cherished mother, Catherine deeply loved and nurtured her two children, Sessa Stanton and Rose Henderson. Her strength and wisdom profoundly shaped their lives, and her feisty spirit will always be a part of them.

Catherine’s legacy of care, compassion, and love endures through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her community, and all the lives she touched. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Catherine is survived by her children, Sessa Stanton of Elsie, OR, and Rose Henderson of Altus, OK, and her grandchildren Benjamin, Katie, and Mathew. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carmella Canciamilla (née Lima); father, Joseph Canciamilla; and partner, Ileana Bravo.
