Mom loved Menudo that she made every Sunday. She made enchiladas for everyone's birthdays and she made Tamales for Christmas every year . And award winning potatoes salad.
Mom's favorite foods were shrimp, ribs, menudo & linguica.
She absolutely loved Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and expanded her musical prowess to include all genres of music from the 50's, 60's, 70's, & 80's. Michael Jackson was her favorite, along with Little Joe, Freddy Fender, & Rod Stewart.
She had the knack of sewing & crocheting. She would make her own patterns & sew my sisters & I outfits for school & dresses. And crocheting...we all had panchos, as was the fad back then and also afghans for our bed. She was also great for making doilies for the coffee table!
She loved gardening!! She had one of the most prettiest yards on the block! Her family & grandkids & great grandkids were her life! They all loved the excursions to the flea market where mom would buy them each an umbrella to shield the sun.
Mom loved to travel .as long as it was by car or bus!! She said she would never fly or go on a boat. She lived going on trips to Laughlin, Reno, Oregon, Arizona! And just traveling to San Francisco to see her favorite team, te Giants
She liked watching all old detective shows Perry Mason, Matlock, Murder she wrote, and Dialing for Dollars! Soap operas we're also her favorite!!
Mom loved the San Francisco Giants & the 49ers .
She will forever be remembered for being a fun living person who put her family first! She had a free spirit and loved to have fun. She always traveled with her ice chest with Olympia Beer & loved reading her romance novels. She doted on her family!! She will be terribly missed
Mom loved so many movies but to absolutely name a favorite, it would have to be 'The Way we Were! '
In mom's younger years, she helped babysit her siblings kids. As she got older, she worked the fields. Once she moved to San Jose, she worked in the cannery, eventually worked at the post office, sorting mail. She used to work there for many years, usually working during Christmas to make extra Christmas money.
Mom had the biggest heart. She took care of her grandkids to which they all have fond memories!! She was always there when we needed her and we returned the favor to. She taught us to be respectful & help those who don't have. To always be there for one another.
We'll plant real trees for you in Carrie's memory and display your contribution forever.
