Obituary

Carrie Lin Smedburg, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 21, 2024, at the age of 49. She was born on August 23, 1974, in Bensalem Township, PA, and most recently resided in Boone, NC.

Carrie had a love for crafting and all things artsy. Unfortunately, she lost the use of her hands, but that never dampened her creative spirit. She found joy in creating beautiful works of art. Carrie also had a passion for food, with pizza and chow mein being among her favorite dishes.

Music was a big part of Carrie's life, especially classic rock and the Grateful Dead. She could often be found jamming to her favorite tunes. Carrie cherished her family and friends, and her granddaughters held a special place in her heart.

Australia held a special allure for Carrie, as she dreamed of visiting the country one day. She enjoyed a wide range of TV shows, from Chowder to NCIS, finding entertainment in various genres. Carrie was affectionately known by her nickname, Carrie.

In her professional life, Carrie worked in the service industry. She attended Lees McRae College, which she considered one of her proudest accomplishments. Carrie is survived by her daughter, Kayla Miller, and son, Jamie Miller. Kayla's husband, James Braswell, and their children, James Jr., Arabella, and Ryan, brought immense joy to Carrie's life.

Carrie is also survived by her sister, Malinda Wallace, and nephews John, Adam, Christian, Emory, and their families. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Carrie's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Arthritis Foundation, as Carrie battled with arthritis throughout her life.

May Carrie Lin Smedburg rest in eternal peace. She will forever be remembered for her love, creativity, and devotion to her family and friends.
