Carolyn enjoyed playing the piano. She was always proud of the fact that she was self taught. She loved line dancing and she also enjoyed looking for antiques at Estate sales, garage sales, and second hand stores.
In the late 90's Carolyn attended Sonoma State University to gain knowledge about Bio-Feedback. She became well practiced in this new therapy and it was a key element in helping her manage her symptoms of Parkinsons.
Nothing was more important to Carolyn than being a wife to Douglas and a mother to Melissa and Kelly. She also felt that she was very blessed to have Randee and Greg (her step-children) in her life and to be part of theirs. Carolyn loved nothing more than her family.
Carolyn was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. She was also a fan of Patrick Mahomes who played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our kind, brave, and loving wife and mother. Carolyn Alice Ewer passed away on July 28, 2024. She was 87 years old. She is survived by her husband Douglas and her daughter Melissa.
Carolyn was born on February 1, 1937, in Petaluma, CA, as the third child to George and Georgina Atkinson.
Carolyn spent her childhood years living in the town of Bloomfield, CA, where she grew up on the Atkinson dairy ranch with her older brother and 6 sisters.
In 1954, Carolyn graduated from Tomales High School. While attending high school, Carolyn was an honor roll student and she was also a great athlete for the Girls’ Athletics Association. During her junior year, the Girls’ Athletics Association, took over the sports activities when, they won all of the girls’ class championships in volleyball, basketball, and baseball.
After graduation Carolyn began working as an accountant and in the later years of the 1960’s she moved to Tahoe City, CA, to further her career. This is where she met Douglas. She always said “It was love at first sight”. In 1970 the two were married on December 31. Their first daughter, Melissa Beth, was born on November 2, 1972, followed by a second daughter, Kelly René, on April 7, 1974.
Carolyn loved her family dearly. She was truly devoted to them. Her marriage of 53 years with her husband, Douglas, was cherished. She was a dedicated, loving wife. Carolyn’s daughters, were the light of her life. She was a mother who worried for them, rooted for them, protected them, supported them, and always loved them. Carolyn was also an amazing and loving stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit, which was second to none. Her infectious smile and laugh will live on forever. We will all miss Carolyn dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.
We'll plant real trees for you in Carolyn's memory and display your contribution forever.
