Obituary

Carmen Maria Ortiz Aviles, 78 years of age, passed on Saturday February 01, 2025 at Vineland Inspira Hospital.

Carmen was born August 19, 1946 in Barranquitas Puerto Rico, to the late Juan Ortiz and Felicita Aviles. She was one of ten children, five of which preceded her in death: Isa Ortiz, Aurora Ortiz, Maria Soto, Luz Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz, and Hector Ortiz. May they rest peacefully.

Carmen lived a life full of love, warmth, and generosity. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who took great pride in her family. Though she faced the heartbreak of loosing her only son William Ortiz she continued to be a pillar of resilience and support for her family. Her biggest joy in life was her nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren whom brought her immense joy.

Carmen had a passion for the simple but beautiful pleasures of life. Cooking meals that brought the family together, taking trips to her beloved land Puerto Rico, and keeping up to date with her telenovelas. To know her was to love her, she had a heart of gold, and a kindness that touched everyone she met.

Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but the love and memories she gave us will remain forever in our heart. We find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her son and other loved ones, who have gone before her.

Carmen is survived by her three daughters Zulma Ortiz, Felicita Colon, and Brenda Mayo, also by her three sisters Margarita Ortiz, Nereida Ortiz, and Iris Ortiz. Her love for her family and her enduring spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Carmen’s legacy of love and devotion will live on through her beloved family and friends.
