Cameron Devante James, known to many as “Gen Four,” passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 2023, where he spent much of his recent years building friendships and becoming part of the community that came to know him.
Cameron was the beloved son of Christopher James and Jessica Greene. He is remembered and mourned by his family, including his siblings Jamiyah Greene, Camari James, Camarion James and Jamarion Greene. He is preceded in death by his older Brother Damarion James.
He is also survived by his extended family, including his paternal grandparents Christopher James Sr. and Pamela DeJesus-James; his maternal grandmother Jennifer Greene; and his late maternal grandfather Michael Smith. He leaves behind his paternal uncles Damarcus James (and his wife Mia James), Charles James, Natalia James, Latoya James, and Sarah James, as well as maternal relatives including Uncle Brian Greene and Aunt Brittany Greene. Cameron is also remembered by many cousins who shared in his life.
Cameron was deeply connected to those closest to him, including his godmother Kiera Jones. While he did not have a known girlfriend at the time of his passing, he shared a strong friendship with Acoya Wilson. He is also remembered by his close friends Maleek, Jamari, Kayleigh, Londyn, and many others whose lives he impacted.
Cameron had recently returned to school after enrolling again and was in the process of continuing his education. Outside of school, he spent much of his time surrounded by friends and in his community, where he was known for being present, observant, and authentic in his interactions.
Those who knew Cameron will remember him as funny, intelligent, and protective of the people he cared about. He was known for speaking his mind openly and honestly, never holding back his thoughts or feelings. His personality left a strong impression on those around him, and his presence was felt in every space he entered.
Cameron’s life will be remembered for the relationships he built, the moments he shared with family and friends, and the impact he had on those who knew him personally. His memory will continue to live on through his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
We'll plant real trees for you in Cameron's memory and display your contribution forever.
