He was born on December 15, 1929, in Galatia, Illinois to his parents, Emily Olive and Auda Howe. He was raised by his mother and stepfather (daddy) Simeon Calindas of Stockton, California. Burley was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many.
Burley dedicated his life to serving others. He earned his Master of Divinity and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. Throughout his career, he served as a pastor for numerous congregations, offering guidance, comfort, and support to those in need.
One of Burley's proudest accomplishments was earning his Phi Beta Kappa pin while studying at UC Berkeley. He was also an active member of Kiwanis, embodying the spirit of service and community involvement.
He resided at Pilgrim Place, a community of fellow retired clergy and missionaries in Claremont, California, alongside his beloved wife Joyce. Together, they shared a deep and enduring love and faith in God. Burley found joy in his weekly lone excursions to the donut shop, savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Burley is survived by his children Melody Howe McLaren, Celeste Howe Ryan, and Kija Manhare, as well as his grandson Christopher Michael Brown and great-grandson Rhys Bo Brown.
Burley Ray Howe will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his faith, his profession, and the people he served. His kindness, compassion, and wisdom will continue to inspire and impact the lives of those he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
