He was the most caring person I knew
Brian Allen Thomas, 36, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on July 26, 1989, in Washington, D.C., Brian lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and a vibrant personality that left an impression on everyone he met.
Brian’s early years were spent in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he attended Atlantic City High School from 2001 to 2004. He later pursued vocational training at Faltwoods Job Corps in Coeburn, VA from 2004 to 2008, majoring in carpentry and plumbing—skills that would become the foundation of his professional life.
For over a decade, Brian worked in the oil field industry as a machine operator in Pittsburgh. His expertise extended across multiple disciplines; he held certifications in forklift operation, milling, plumbing, and fracking. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership abilities. Most recently, he served as a machinist at Nord-Lock Inc., where he made a lasting impact through both his skill and mentorship.
Brian was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife Samantha Thomas and their son Kavonn Thomas. His strength and sense of responsibility as a protector and provider were central to who he was. He also leaves behind his grandfather Augustine Thomas; brother Clyde E. Brooks Jr.; sister Shanay Lajuan Thomas; nephews Kamren Curry and John Long Brooks; nieces Kailea Curry, Kapri Curry, KyAsia Curry, and Nelly Long Brooks; and close cousins Ervin, Markiss, Ephraim, Arhie, Jimmy, Jason, Jarod, Patrice, Ciera, Tiffany, Danny, and Kevin Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his mother Carole Denise Thomas; father Clyde E. Brooks Sr.; grandmother Beatrice Thomas; sister Sherrie Thomas; uncle Kevin Thomas; and cousin Daimen Thomas.
Brian had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. He loved working with his hands—whether it was yard work or home improvement projects—and took pride in every task he undertook. A true enthusiast of food and travel, Brian enjoyed exploring new places and flavors with those close to him. Sports were another of his great loves—especially basketball and football.
Music played an important role in Brian’s life; he especially appreciated old-school tunes that reminded him of his parents. His style was unmistakable—he had an eye for sneakers, clothing, and baseball hats—and he carried himself with confidence and style. A movie buff with a soft spot for cartoons, Brian always had a funny story ready to share—a reflection of the humor and warmth that defined him.
Faith was also part of Brian’s journey. He last attended North Way Robinson Christian Community in Carnegie, Pennsylvania.
Those who knew Brian remember him as being much like his father: hardworking and family-oriented with a caring heart. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him—a legacy that will continue through the lives he touched.
May the memory of Brian Allen Thomas bring peace to all who knew him and strength to those who carry forward the love he gave so freely.
