Bob…..Bobby Charles Huffmaster, age 92, formerly of Irving, Texas and recently of Prosper, TX passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Bob was born in Meridian, Mississippi on August 7, 1931 to Lewis Edward Huffmaster and Etta Mae Ivy. He grew up during the Great Depression era and became a teenager during World War II.
In May of 1949, Bob joined the Navy at age 17 and was trained by the Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) in Gulfport, Mississippi to be a builder and advanced over time to be a Builder Chief (BUC). He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served 10 years on the east coast of the US and overseas and 10 years on the west coast and overseas. He retired from the Navy in 1969. He was a true patriot and loved the United States of America.
After the Seabees, he worked for the City of Irving as Zoning Administrator… this is where he met his future wife, Martha. Later, he worked at the Naval Air Station in Dallas, Texas as a construction inspector. After NAS, he went to work for Trammell Crow Company and finally retired after 6 years. Bob loved being a Mason and was so proud when he received his 50 year pin in 2021.
After meeting and later marrying Martha in 1977, they blended their families and lived on Britain Road in Irving, Texas. Bob’s children Laura, Jackie, Chuck and Bonnie and Martha’s children Kelly, Randy and Kenny all became family and Bob loved them all.
We all remember the Huffmaster reunions at Lake Belton. For several years running, at Fort Hood Army recreational area in Killeen, Texas, Bob rented cabins for their children’s families and friends. We all loved playing on the lake. This annual tradition continued for many years. Bob organized these blessed memories at the lake because he most loved to be surrounded by the ones he loved.
Bob and Martha loved to travel and were blessed to be able to visit wonderful places such as Italy, France, Germany, Hawaii, Alaska, England, Wales, Bermuda, Mexico and Jamaica and of course the entire United States. Their favorite vacations, however, were cruising and they managed to take several over the years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha McClurg Huffmaster, his children Laura Marie Turner (A.J.), Jackie Lynn Preslar, Charles Douglas Huffmaster and Bonnie Louise Weber (Mike). He is also survived by his stepchildren Kelly Presley Brabec (Ron), Randy Presley (Delisa) and Kenny Presley. Bob was always so proud of all his grandchildren (16), great grandchildren (23) and 1 great-great grandchild.
There will be a private Celebration of Life service on Thanksgiving in Tomball, Texas with Bob’s grandson, Michael Rahn, officiating. At some later date, Bob will be joined by Martha and interred at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
We'll plant real trees for you in Bob's memory and display your contribution forever.
