Billy Edward Harris, a beloved member of the Texarkana community, passed away on June 21, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on July 26, 1935. Billy was a proud member of the Army National Guard and served his country with honor. He was also a valued employee at Haley's Body Shop.
Billy had a zest for life and enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid trout fisherman, a passionate fan of Cowboys football, and loved watching old westerns. Music was also a great joy in Billy's life, with Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley being his favorite artists.
Known for his sense of humor and his loving and kind nature, Billy was adored by all who knew him. He was the best husband to Mary Ruth Harris, a devoted father to Billy Don and Judy Harris, and Brenda Wilson. Billy was also a proud and doting Papaw to his grandsons Heath Harris, Brad and Michelle Wilson, Michael Hoover, Billy Rex and Marlee Sheets, and Blake Harris. He cherished his 11 great-grandchildren.
Billy's impact on the lives of others cannot be overstated. His warm and humorous personality made everyone feel welcome and loved. He was a faithful servant of God and a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Billy was also a founding member of the "grumpy old men" club, where he shared laughter and camaraderie with his friends.
Billy Edward Harris will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever be cherished.
