Bernice Jojuna McLemore, affectionately known as "Joy," passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 23, 1936, in Selma, Alabama, Joy lived a vibrant life filled with love and laughter.
Most recently residing in Kansas City, Missouri, she was deeply loved by her family and friends. Joy was married to Willie Holmes, with whom she shared a loving partnership. Together, they raised four children: Greg (known as Sugar Ray), Demetrius (who preceded her in death), Derrick, and Kejenna (affectionately called Cookie).
Joy's legacy continues through her children and her close-knit family. She is survived by her beloved sister, Hattie Lyles, and her cherished niece, Ree. Joy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
