Ben was born August 11,1939, in Washington DC to Charles and Sarah Howze. He graduated high school from Anacostia High School and attended college at Georgetown University, where he met and married Phyllis Thompson. She took the role of being a mother and a homemaker while Ben pursued a career in becoming a Horticulturist. They were blessed with 2 children Randal Ernest (Cy) and Darlene Sours (Sam). When he decided to blaze his own path he moved from his hometown to Calgary in 1991. His true passion lay with horticulture and nature. Ben spent the rest of his recent life mentoring peers through the sobriety program and revitalizing the Bowness Senior Center. His love of life was being outside, whether its golf, bowling, or taking his dog Pancho out for walks. We will cherish the memories, love, and laughter he brought to our lives. He will be forever missed.
Rest in peace dear Ben. Your memory will remain in our hearts forever.
