OBITUARY
Barry began his journey on March 31, 1951, in Longview, Texas, as the 5th of fourteen children born to Ted and Vertie Sharp. In 1956, the family relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where Barry attended public schools, including the now-historic I.M. Terrell Senior High School where his respectful demeanor earned him many friends.
In the spring of 1971, Barry enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in London, England with dignity and unwavering dedication. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1974, returning to Texas, where he then worked in the sporting goods industry for many years.
Barry was a real American hero who loved God, his family, and his country. He enjoyed playing his gospel music, as well as the old school hits of the 70's. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, TV westerns, and almost every martial arts film ever made.
Barry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ted and Vertie Sharp, who are undoubtedly welcoming him home; brothers Charles Jones, W.C. Barnes, Lonell Sharp, and Danny Sharp; sisters Shirley Thomas and Hazel Sharp. We find comfort knowing this heavenly reunion is filled with the perfect peace Barry always sought.
Barry's memory will be forever cherished by: Emma Sharp (wife); Cameron Sharp (son); Dee Coulson (daughter); Ciearra C. Berry (granddaughter); Taylor Berry (great granddaughter); surviving siblings: Ted Sharp Jr, Luvell Sharp, Micheal Sharp (Juanita), Jerry Sharp (Gail), Reverend Vernon Sharp (Ruby), Carolyn Cummings, Rose Netter, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
While we mourn the loss of Barry's physical presence, we celebrate a blessed life remembered with laughter, goodwill, love, and humble faith. His legacy will continue through every act of generosity inspired by his example, every moment of patient listening learned from his model, and every ounce of strength drawn from his memory. We all understood and treasured your quiet heart!
We'll plant real trees for you in Barry's memory and display your contribution forever.
