Baogen Xie, born on August 3, 1932, in Nanchang, Jiangxi, China, passed away on September 11, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. He was a beloved husband to Genxiang Hu and a dedicated father to his three children: Honghui, Xueqin, and Nanqin Xie.

Throughout his life, Baogen was known for his honesty, caution, and good temperament/诚信, 谨慎, 好脾气. He maintained a disciplined daily routine, which he followed devotedly for as long as he could. Baogen cherished his heritage and often spoke fondly of his hometown of Nanchang, which remained his favorite place in the world.

An avid lover of Chinese chess, Baogen enjoyed the game, especially watching others play. His palate was delighted by traditional dishes, including 牛筋, 烤鸭, and 小笼包. He traveled and visited cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou, Dalian, Taiwan, Michigan, and New York, and finally settled in Portland.

Baogen Xie's legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched with his kindness and sincerity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his children and grandchildren.
