Passed away February 10, 2026

Cause: Untreated infection, unable to treat due to inability to obtain IV access. She was sent home where her residence had no heating. She passed due to sepsis, when the combination of an untreated infection and cooler than usual temperatures over powered her.

Life Sketch:

She was born in Oregon on February 18th, 1954.

Career: wife, mother, artist, writer, master gardner, chef, film maker, para-legal.

Daughter of Veterans of the United States Airforce. Martin Patrick Whalen and Mary Sumiko Kanada.

Notable Accomplishments and Passions:

Of many paintings, most notable White Horses Running Through Water, sold to People magazine.

Many shows done for the cable access channel in Denver, Colorado and San Francisco, California. Denver: The Eagles of Bar Lake, The Skateboarders of downtown Denver, Teenage Midget College Ditchers, and Cooking shows.

She was also working on a show called Barbies from Space and The Ghosts of Golden Gate Park. A book she had published in the 1980s called, Zero Gravity.

She was a great mother of her 4 children and wife.

She was a paralegal in San Francisco. Among many cases, she spearheaded the case to legalize marijuana in California for medicinal purposes.

She grew seedlings of acorn trees to spread around San Francisco for conservation.

Protection of the art loft of The Spaz Kids was a high priority for her.

Sister- Margaret Ann Whalen.
