April Genise Hunter, known affectionately as Pookie, was born on November 10, 1971, in Coldwater, MS, and passed away on September 14, 2024, in Rochester Minnesota A dedicated hair stylist and nail technician, April poured her heart into her work, always bringing joy and beauty to others.
April had a deep love for life that was evident in all she did. She cherished her favorite foods, especially French fries, and delighted in listening to R&B music, often singing her favorite songs with great passion. April was known for her sense of humor, earning her the title of the family comedian. Her laughter and warmth made her a beloved figure to all who knew her.
Family was at the core of April’s existence. She was a proud mother to her two children, Jerimiah and Gloria Hunter and she treasured spending time with her family in Mississippi, her favorite place in the world. April maintained a close bond with her six siblings: Ms. Fercillia Hunter, Mr. Franklin Hunter, Mr. Joshua Hunter, Mr. Marsaa Hunter, Ms. Cierra Hunter, and Mr. Ravi Hunter.
April’s generous spirit shone brightly; she was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. Her proudest accomplishments included obtaining a new car and a home in Rochester, Minnesota, which she viewed as milestones in her journey. April left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered, and her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed.
In addition to her passions and commitments, April enjoyed watching "The Masked Singer" and loved basketball, often cheering for her favorite teams. Although she was single at the time of her passing, her heart was always open to those she loved. April Genise Hunter will be remembered as a vibrant soul who filled the lives of many with laughter and love.
