Antonio Maurice Canion, affectionately known as Moe, passed away on June 26, 2024 in his hometown of Decatur, GA. Born to Cythina Ann Canion and Marcus Canion on April 15, 1965, Moe was a cherished member of the Atlanta community throughout his 46 years.
A proud graduate of Tucker High School, Moe furthered his education at the University of Illinois, where he earned a degree in Engineering in 2004. His career was marked by dedication and excellence; he worked as a, engineer for the City of Atlanta managed major projects for a construction firm, and eventually channeled his expertise into his own successful consulting business.
In 2001, Moe married the love of his life, Michelle Holloway and together, they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter. Moe was a devoted father to Zatavious (Zameka) Holloway and Deontay (Tasha) Canion and a doting grandfather to Latosha, Marquize, and Alisha.
Moe's life was one of active engagement with the world around him. He was an outdoor enthusiast, often found sing writing lyrics, cooking, or tending to bartending duty to keep parting going. Indoors, he was an avid reader and a strategic chess player. His barbeque gatherings were legendary, with his smoked ribs being the highlight of many family events. Moe was also a respected mentor, guiding young engineers in their careers, and he instilled a love of exciting his grandchildren. His commitment to his community was evident through his regular good grades let’s play the game with food included.
Moe's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Michelle; his children, Deontay (Tasha); his adored grandchildren, Latosha, Marquize, and Alisha; his brother, Mark (Tiffany) Canion; His nieces, nephews will also feel his absence, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues
Reflecting on Moe's life during the service will be, his longtime friend and colleague David Lee, and his children, Zatavious Holloway, Latosha, Marquize, and Alisha.
Antonio Maurice Canion will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth, wisdom, and the joy he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A service to honor Moe's life will be held on June 29 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Center Moe will be celebrated and reception will follow at the Canion family home, where stories will be shared and memories cherished, Per Moe’s wishes
