Anthony Norman Tholmer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 13, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on May 3, 1933, in New Orleans, LA, but was raised in Vallejo, CA. He migrated to Los Angeles after his military term in Korea and most recently resided in Leimert Park.
Anthony, also known as Tony and Toto by his grandson, Kaylin, had a zest for life and a passion for connecting with others. He was a mathematician with a unique talent for counting backwards by any number. Anthony's love for people was evident in his volunteer work, where he assisted the elderly with their daily tasks such as shopping and bill payments, etc.
In his free time, Anthony enjoyed indulging in his favorite foods, including red beans and rice and lobster. He had a deep appreciation for jazz music, especially Kenny Rankin, and enjoyed watching shows like CNN and the Red Fox Show. Football and basketball were his favorite sports, and he took great pride in his role as a UPS courier and owning a hamburger joint, Big T Burgers.
Jamaica held a special place in Anthony's heart, as it was his and his wiife’s favorite destination in the world. He cherished spending time there and immersing himself in the vibrant culture. Anthony was also a devoted member of St. Paul's Church, attending Sunday mass faithfully and occupying the first row of the vestibule. Through his love of church he met Cynthia and they married.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife Cynthia and their children Tony Jr., Von, Beth, Leah, and Miya. He was especially proud of his numerous grandchildren, with a strong attachment to Kaylin, who shared his passion for football. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anthony Norman Tholmer will be remembered for his mellow and friendly nature, always saying “hello daaarling” and ready to lend a helping hand. His dedication to his community and his unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit for life. May he rest in peace.
